Two previous trips to the Spanish Pyrenees attempting to photograph Lammergeiers had been complete failures. The snow was so heavy on the first trip we couldn't even get in to the Pyrenees. The second saw us getting to the feeding site but not surprisingly the birds would not accept our temporary hide. This time we went earlier in the year (October) and a permanent hide had been in place for two years. Five days had been booked in the hide which was about right as one day was lost to heavy rain and another was ruined by a walker coming to the feeding site exactly at the time the birds were coming down to the food.
