After many passes of the Lammergeiers over the feeding site the birds eventually came down to feed although most did not stay very long.. Goat legs were mainly used as food as the Lammergeiers normally swallow bones and do not pull meat off the bones. Over the five days we photographed three tagged birds and probably five non tagged birds.

SUB ADULT ON THE EDGE OF THE FEEDING SITE

One adult bird was a frequent visitor the site and would spend up to an hour feeding and walking about the site. He seemed to be almost pure white on his head and legs which is very unusual for a Lammergeier. Unfortunately from our point of view he had two wing tags, white on the left and yellow on the right, and two leg rings. These did help us identify him as Victor as all the tagged birds over one year old have been given names. Seventy eight birds out of the estimated Pyrenean population of five hundred birds have been tagged.
