Great Skuas (Bonxies) were common on Unst and a bathing pool allowed us to get reasonably close to them. Numbers have exploded in recent years and as well as forcing other birds to drop their food, the Bonxies are now eating both adults and chicks which is having a detrimental effect on sea bird numbers.
