Gigrin Farm is a great place to easily see and perhaps more difficult to photograph Red Kites. These birds must have had every type of camera aimed at them and I wonder how many shots are taken there each year. As my landscape photographer friend wanted to try out his 80-400mm lens, and I hadn't been there since switching to digital, we made the 2 hour journey in almost perfect weather. Remarkably it stayed clear until almost the last so we both had ideal opportunity to try out our kit. Our new Canon 400mm DO lens was ideal and got a good thumbs up but unfortunately the Nikon 80-400mm was not so highly rated.
