A number of friends had visited Riding Mountain Ranch in Manitoba Canada and had enjoyed the experience of watching and photographing Black Bears at close quarters. As it probably is the last year Bears will be fed here we thought we had better pay a visit before it was too late. The Bears were great, readily coming in to dog biscuits and peanut butter spread up tree trunks. We photographed them from a bus through large open windows and hoped the Bears would not decide to join us in the bus. Some nights the Bears were waiting for us to feed them and so it was a quick walk from the car to get into the bus.
