My three weeks in  India were a great experience as I visited some of the more  remote areas as well as trying for Tiger at a couple of the more usual reserves. India is a real 'assault on the senses' as one of the group commented, never a dull moment as you travel with cows wandering across main roads and people, people and more people. I travelled with a group from Wild Images which had a mix of bird watchers and wildlife photographers which is never ideal as the two groups have conflicting agendas. However the  photographers still managed some reasonable images  even if it meant hand holding the 500mm from a rocking jeep. Our first stop was at Gir National Park in Gujarat to see the last remaining asiatic lions. They number around 300 and are well used to the jeeps patrolling the park. Not the best wildlife experience as you jockey for the best position with a number of other jeeps but great to see the lions doing reasonably well.
