Scotland is a fantastic place for photographing wildlife especially if you get the right weather. However that can be the main problem and unfortunately the weather during my recent January trip was not ideal. Initially it took me over an hour to even get out of my drive due to the heavy snow in the Forest of Dean. After a remarkably trouble free drive to my base in the Cairngorms I thought my luck had changed. However the next day it snowed continuously and all I managed were a few landscapes which looked like white on white and very little else! The following day was my best day when I drove to the coast where it hadn't snowed and I spent the day photographing confiding Eiders and Long-tailed ducks in super light.
