At least one Bittern has been very confiding in front of the Zeiss hide at Slimbridge over the last couple of months except when I have been in the hide! This week my luck changed and a Bittern spent a couple of hours in and out of view right in front of the hide. Unfortunately the Bittern did not catch a fish but at least the Bittern did stand out in the open for quite a while. This was in spite of three different pairs of birdwatchers who came into the hide seeming to talk as loud as possible.
