Our longest hike during our recent visit to Assynt in the north of Scotland was to Suilven. We set off walking in the dark in the morning and got back in the dark extremely tired but well satisfied with our day. Helen had always wanted to climb Suilven and after 27 years finally realised her ambition. The walk itself is easy at the beginning along a stalkers path but as soon as the path to the top turns off this path it goes through an extremely wet peat bog and then climbs up a seemingly vertical cliff. We didn't have time to get to the summit but spent a good hour along the ridge at the top before we had to leave because of the encroaching dark. Another bonus was that we only saw two other people on the walk all day.
