We have never visited Scotland in March before so this year seemed as good a time as any to put that right. We were hoping for enough snow for the classic winter images but not so much that we couldn't get around. As it happens we probably could have done with a bit more snow but we had no trouble getting about and there was plenty of snow on the Cairngorms. The weather was variable as usual with many days with very strong winds. Fortunately we had two very still days which we used for getting to the top of the Cairngorms. Most of the Ptarmigan were still in their full winter plumage but some were just beginning to moult.
