For a number of years now short eared owls have wintered at a spot near Cheltenham. They quarter a couple of fields most evenings. The spot is very well known and on a sunny evening at the weekend it can be difficult to park your car and find a spot by the stone wall overlooking the fields. The owls can be quite distant and you need a bit of luck for the owls to come close in good light.
