LATEST IMAGES - NORWAY1 The second destination on our Shetland Wildlife trip was Batsfjord on the Northern Coast of Norway. It is a fishing port and so attracts gulls and also sea ducks both for the food and shelter. Floating hides in the harbour have been set up to get close to the ducks and we spent a couple of early and very cold mornings in them. Thankfully this year there are mark 2 versions of the hides as we had heard that the mark1's were uncomfortable as you had to lie down in them and they were very unstable. You could either lie down or sit on a small chair in the Mark 2 hides which was a great improvement and the chemical toilet and hot flask for tea and coffee were much appreciated. The birds came very close to the hide at times so you could use a bigger or more wide angle lens as was your preference. It was a toss up between the King Eiders and the Long-tailed Ducks for the stars of the show although the Steller's Eiders were a new bird for the both of us.
