LATEST IMAGES - SOMERSET1 The Somerset Levels are only just over an hour away from home but to really enjoy the area and to try and catch the Starling roost with a nice sky, we stayed at the same cottage we had on our last visit in April. It is only 5 minutes from Ham Wall but this time we had to do a detour around road works to get to the RSPB Reserve which was a bit of a pain. We went to Ham Wall on our first evening along with lots of other people to catch the Starlings as they came into roost. Some did indeed come down into reed beds very close to us but most of them carried on flying and were obviously roosting at a different site. Next evening we took a stab at where they might roost and were not too far away which set us up for the rest of the week. It is always nice to see so many people enjoying the roost at Ham Wall but at the main roost the small number of people meant we could be flexible where we stood and were not worried about getting in the way.
