LATEST IMAGES - SKOKHOLM AUGUST1 We seem to be drawn back to Skokholm Island with increasing frequency, whether it is the Island itself, its wildlife or the fellow visitors we are not sure but what ever the time of year or weather we allows enjoy our stay. This visit was unusual as the first part coincided with the Wardens first mid-season break ever. The B team(!) coped remarkably well in their absence and normal order was restored later in our stay when Richard and Giselle returned from their travels. By August most of the cliff nesting birds have departed with only a few Fulmar chicks remaining but there were still plenty of birds, especially underground. Manx Shearwater chicks were just coming out of their burrows and adults were still coming ashore to feed hungry chicks. We do not use flash very often so we took a refresher course in our room before heading out to try and capture images of these charismatic birds. The last chick on this page was taken during the day after the chick was removed from its burrow for weighing etc. MANX SHEARWATER MANX SHEARWATER1 MANX SHEARWATER2 MANX SHEARWATER3 MANX SHEARWATER4 MANX SHEARWATER5 MANX SHEARWATER6 MANX SHEARWATER CHICK MANX SHEARWATER CHICK1 MANX SHEARWATER CHICK2 |
