Birdlife on the Hawaiian Islands is a mixture of true Hawaiian birds and introduced species from it seems every corner of the globe. Unfortunately we didn't see any of the Hawaiian forest birds during our short stay on the way to and from Midway Atoll but we did see Hawaiian water birds and many of the introduced species. The Zebra Dove is from the far east and the Red-junglefowl were introduced by the early Polynesian settlers.
