Remarkably, considering the poor summer, the weather held for our recent short trip to Suffolk. This was just as well as we had booked two trips out to to the RSPB reserve of Havergate Island. The reserve provided us with some good bird watching, Spoonbills and lots of Avocets being the highlights, but we were mainly interested in the rather tame brown hares. Initially we had trouble finding a hare that didn't run off when we went anywhere near it but eventually we were rewarded with some close encounters.
