Mallorca is a place I have never visited before and not really thought about for a wildlife photography trip. It used to be very popular for birders, particularly during the spring migration,  so I thought I would give it a try as it is a relatively cheap trip and not too long a flight. Even though I was a few weeks too early for the main migration I found plenty of subjects to point my camera at. I also enjoyed the varied scenery especially the surprising, to me at least, zig zag climbs up into the mountains. As well as the photography I managed to see two possibly three new birds. Audouin's gulls are still quite a rare gull even though their numbers have increased in recent years and these were a first for me and as gulls go they were very impressive birds. The beach at Port de Pollenca seemed to be the best place to find them even though they were not as tame as the birding guide book I was using suggested. They were particularly photogenic flying up and down the waterfront in the late evening light looking for scraps left on the beach
