During my time in Extremadura I spent a day in a commercial hide hoping to photograph wintering Common Cranes. The hide was glass fronted which I am not very keen on but it did mean there is less chance of disturbing the birds with lens movement. I didn't think as I was going to be lucky as at first pigs came and ate the acorns that had been put out to attract the cranes and also the seed for small birds. Then three Cranes came down to the pond but at the same time the cows came down to drink and frightened away the Cranes! Thankfully in the early afternoon a dozen common Cranes came down to the pond to drink and search for food and no local livestock were around to disturb them.
