During my brief winter visit to Extremadura I spent a day in a supposedly vulture hide. I was after black vulture but didn't actually get any vulture visits to the carcass which was most disappointing. There were a steady stream of small birds and ravens that helped pass the time. Hoopoes are always nice to see especially in good light and I hadn't realised they stay in Southern Spain for the winter.
