The snow geese came extremely close to us when they were resting during the middle of the day on the crane pools at Bosque del Apache. If you sat still and nobody walked along the dike, the geese would regularly come within the minimum focusing distance for my 500mm lens. This was a ideal opportunity to try for single bird shots although trying to isolate one was always a problem
